The term lordosis means inward curving of a part of the lumbar and cervical vertebral column. Lordotic posture is a disorder signified by an increase of the spine curve in the frontal direction. Lordosis and kyphosis are often associated.

The Schroth method is an alternative method of treatment for scoliosis which is often successful. It is a physiotherapy treatment which employs the use of isometric exercises (muscle contractions without movement), and exercises for strengthening and stretching the asymmetric muscles.

For each patient undergoing the Schroth method, an exercise program is specifically tailored to each individual patient. The Schroth method is conducted by first making postural corrections to correct the body in free space, and then to activate the muscles. Exercises are done in front of the mirror, while employing the use of rotational breathing. This type of treatment, along with other elements of other forms of treatment can lead to a successful correction of the problem.
